- Story Text: At least one person killed in an attack on a U.S.
convoy in the northern city of Mosul
Witnesses said one Iraqi was killed and one injured
when a car bomb attacked a US convoy in the northern Iraqi
city of Mosul on Friday (October 22, 2004).
The US military said the bomb went off at the wrong
time and missed the convoy.
The attack took place hours after a mosque was raided by
Iraqi forces, backed by US soldiers and shots were fired.
The fresh attacks followed a day of violence on Thursday
(October 22) when a number of mortar attacks took place
during a visit paid to the city by Iraqi Prime Minister
Iyad Allawi.
