  • Story Text: A U.S.truck was set on fire after an attack on a
    food convoy near Baghdad airport.



    Iraqi insurgents on Wednesday (June 9) attacked a
    convoy of trucks carrying food supplies to the U.S forces,
    near Baghdad airport. Witnesses said no one was injured in
    the attack.

    The attack is part of the continuing violence in Iraq
    and came one day after the U.N. Security Council
    unanimously adopted a resolution that will formally end the
    U.S.-led occupation.

    Insurgents also launched a mortar attack on security
    forces belonging to an Iraqi general who has taken over
    security in the flashpoint town of Falluja on Wednesday,
    causing several casualties, witnesses said.

    For now guerrillas still seem bent on ensuring a
    violent run-up to the June 30 handover, detonating car
    bombs in two cities that killed 13 Iraqis and one U.S.

    soldier on Tuesday (June 8).
