- Story Text: Three U.S. soldiers wounded in suicide car bomb
attack in northern Iraq.
A suicide car bomber blew up his vehicle next to a
U.S. military convoy in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul on
Wednesday (October 13), damaging at least one U.S. humvee
and wounding three soldiers, a military spokesman said.
The bomb went off in a northeastern section of the city
at around 2:20 p.m. (1120 GMT) as a small convoy of humvees
were passing, witnesses said.
The military spokesman described it as a "complex
attack" and said there had been an exchange of gunfire
after the blast.
U.S. forces are regularly targeted by roadside bombs
and suicide car bombers in Mosul, Iraq's third largest
city, which lies about 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad.
