- Story Text: Mortar attack kills one, wounds six people in
northern Baghdad.
Four mortar shells landed in Baghdad's northern
district of Adhamiya on Wednesday (August 10, 2005), killing a
traffic policeman and wounding six civilians.
The mortars landed near Antar Square in Adhamiya, a
largely Sunni neighbourhood of the capital that has been a
centre of insurgent activity.
One of the mortar shells landed on a minibus and
another fell in front of shops.
The real target of the mortar attack was not clear.
"Four mortars landed in the street. They do not target
the Americans, they fell on the minibus and the innocent
civilians," said policeman Sattar Karim.
