- Story Text: A car bomb exploded near a market in Baghdad on Friday night (May 26), killing at least ten people, Ministry of Interior sources said.
At least 18 people wounded in the explosion which took place in the Hay al-Amil district of the capital.
Eyewitness Burhan Herhan said: "At around 8.30 last night (Friday 26) I was standing here near my shop and I heard huge blast, then I saw a boy who was selling cheese on fire - he died later. I ran immediately to bring water to put it on the boy. There was car here which protected me from the blast."
A bomb exploded in southern Baghdad on Saturday (May 26) killed at least five civilians and wounded more than thirteen, hospital sources said. The bomb exploded in market in Abu Dshir area southern Baghdad , the wounded were taken to Yarmouk Hospital .
A roadside bomb exploded in western Baghdad on Saturday, killing one policeman and wounded two others, police said.
The bomb exploded in al Mansour district western Baghdad while Iraqi police car was driving in a main street.
In the northern city of Kikruk gunmen shot dead a police officer and his friend on Friday (May 26) as they were having tea outside his house, police and hospital sources said. Another friend was wounded in the drive-by shooting.
In Baquba northeast of Baghdad, witnesses said that U.S. forces opened fire on civilian car on Friday killing a woman who was in the car.
"They (family of the dead woman) came to our house for dinner and while I was driving them back there was an American convoy in front of us and they opened fire on our car and killed my cousin," the victim's cousin said .
The U.S. military was not available to comment on the incident.
Shops have been destroyed in recent clashes between US forces and insurgents in central of Ramadi. U.S. have forces surrounded the area and prevented people from going outside. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
