- Story Text: Some 30 muslim staged a protest outside Human Rights National Commission headquarters in Jakarta against the execution of three men for 2002 Bali bombings.
About 30 Indonesian Muslims staged a protest in Jakarta on Thursday (November 6) to protest against the execution of three Muslim militants convicted to death for 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people.
"We are against foreign intervention in our country. Now, you can see America's intervention on Detachment 88 (Indonesia anti-terror police)," said Zaki Cahyadi, the leader of the "Indonesia Muslim Soldier" group which organised the protest.
The group believes that the execution was being carried out due to pressure from foreign countries.
Protestors gathered around Indonesia's Human Rights Commission carrying placards and posters with the photographs of the three Bali bombers.
The Indonesian anti-terrorist unit, Detachment 88, was involved in a series of raids last year that authorities say netted the heads of Islamist group Jemaah Islamiya and its military wing.
Security has been increased across Indonesia in the last few days ahead of the expected executions of three Islamic militants sentenced to death for their role in attacks on two nightclubs in Bali. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
