- Story Text: Police evacuated Greece's finance ministry after a bomb threat just ahead of a news conference by Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou was due to begin on Thursday (August 5).
A police official told Reuters that the ministry received an anonymous call at 0950 GMT warning that a bomb would go off at 1030 GMT. Police are investigating whether the call was a hoax.
Employees were evacuated from the building which was cordoned off for checks.
Hoax bomb threats are frequent in Greece.
Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou was due to comment on the results of an EU/IMF inspection visit.
The ministry said that the news conference was postponed until police checked the building and gave an all clear. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
