  • Story Text: Car bomb in central Baghdad kills two and wounds five others.
    A car bomb exploded at sunset in central Baghdad on Sunday (September 14), killing two people and wounding five others, police sources said.
    They said that the car bomb targeted a police patrol near Hassan Restaurant in Baghdad's Karrada district during Iftar, the fast-breaking meal eaten during Ramadan, killing two people including one policeman and wounding three policemen and two civilians.
    Television footage showed street cleaners collecting pieces of car bomb wreckage, which were scattered all over the scene and sweeping shards of glass.
    Violence overall in Iraq has fallen to lows not seen since early 2004, but militants have shown they are still capable of carrying out large-scale attacks.
