- Story Text: Greek police on Wednesday (February 2) deactivated a parcel bomb addressed to Justice Minister Harris Kastanidis, two months after a guerrilla group claimed responsibility for a wave of similar bombs.
The package, which reportedly arrived by courier, raised the suspicion of ministry personnel, who contacted the police.
No group has claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attempted attack.
Police officials said the parcel bomb may have been sent in solidarity with suspected members of the Conspiracy of Fire Cells group on trial since last month. The group has claimed a spate of bomb attacks since 2009, including parcel bombs sent to foreign embassies in Athens and governments abroad.
Police officials said the parcel bomb may have been sent in solidarity with the suspects on trial.
Greece's anti-terrorism unit has begun preliminary investigations into the latest parcel bomb incident. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
