- Story Text: At least four people were killed and seven others were wounded on Sunday (September 2) when a parked car bomb exploded in the Shi'ite district of Kadhimiya in northwestern Baghdad, police said.
They said that the blast took place in Adan square of the district of Kadhimiya.
Police added that the blast wrecked number of civilian cars.
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Sunday responded to critics in the U.S.
Congress, saying his government had kept Iraq from plunging into sectarian civil war.
Maliki is under mounting pressure from officials in Washington to show progress towards reconciling warring majority Shi'ite Muslims and minority Sunni Arabs.
Tens of thousands of Iraqis have been killed since the bombing of a revered Shi'ite shrine in the town of Samarra in February 2006 unleashed a wave of sectarian bloodshed. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
