- Story Text: A car bomb exploded near the city's heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad on Monday (November 13), wounding two civilians, police said.
No one was killed in the explosion, which took place in a park of the Iraqi Ministry of Defence not far from the Iranian Embassy, police said.
More than 20 cars were damaged in the blast.
"It (the parking lot) belongs to the Ministry of Defence. The blast was caused by a car bomb, but thank God, there were no casualties. It only caused damage to cars, as you see, more than 20 cars were burnt. The blast caused material losses only, thank God, there were no human losses," said police officer Faris Abbas.
The Green Zone enclave is a seat of the Iraqi government. It also houses the US and British embassies. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
