  • Story Text: A roadside bomb in eastern Baghdad on Thursday ( March1) left one person dead and four others wounded.
    The attack took place on Palestine street and the wounded were immediately taken to local hospital for treatment.
    Meanwhile in the northern Baghdad al-Sha'ab neighbourhood, U.S. forces raided a number of offices and a Shi'ite mosque, arresting seven people.
    Witnesses said that the U.S. troops arrested two guards at the al-Rafidain bank. At the water and sanitation department, two men were arrested, while three guards from Ash-Shuroufi Shi'ite mosque also were detained.
    "We will demonstrate, men, women and children, demanding the withdrawal of the occupiers from Iraq. As long as the occupiers are in Iraq, they will destroy Islam and Iraq. We will die, we will give everything we have just for the sake of letting the occupiers to withdraw from Iraq," said Sayyid Abbass, a Shi'ite tribal leader.
    Thousands of U.S. and Iraqi forces are deployed in the capital within a security plan aimed at putting an end to sectarian violence. The operation is regarded as a last ditch effort to stop Iraq bloodletting.
    U.S. commanders have urged patience, saying it will take time for the offensive against militants to have a lasting impact.
