Two roadside bombs exploded on Wednesday (October 24) in a street in south Baghdad crowded with civilians, killing at least four people and wounding 25.
The attack happened in the Diyala Bridge district of the city. Police sources said the bombs exploded almost simultaneously near a busy market in an area where people had gathered to take transport to their jobs in the morning.
Some police sources put the death toll as high as eight.
The district is a mainly Shi'ite part of Baghdad.
"Two bombs went off here targeting innocent people who were going to work. Why? what are they guilty of?" said one witness at the scene.
In a separate attack a bomb went off next to a passing convoy of Iraqi police commandos in Baghdad's western neighbourhood of Qadissiya, wounding two police commandos and one civilian, police said.
U.S. troops rushed to the area to inspect the blast scene. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
