- Story Text: A car bomb exploded near a police training camp on Egypt's Sinai peninsula, state television reported on Wednesday (July 24), saying that three terrorists had died in the blast.
Nile television said the explosion took place in the city of El-Arish, in northern Sinai, where violence by Islamist militants has escalated since President Mohamed Mursi was deposed on July 3.
Video of the wreckage showed the remains of the car, as well as what appeared to be a mobile phone attached to a rucksack.
The bombing comes on the same day in which the head of the armed forces called in a speech for for mass rallies to give him a mandate to tackle violence and terrorism.
In his speech to military graduates this morning, after days of sporadic street clashes that have left more than 100 dead, General Abdul Fattah al-Sisi said ordinary Egyptians should rally to strengthen the hand of the army and police.
Last night a bomb was thrown at a police station in the Nile Delta killing one person and wounding 17 others - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
