- Story Text: Witnesses said on Thursday (April 6) that a roadside bomb went off near a US military convoy in the restive city of Ramadi late on Wednesday (April 5), damaging a military vehicle.
They said that the US forces searched the area immediately after the blast, damaging houses and breaking doors.
"A roadside bomb exploded close to US forces at night. After that they searched the area, they broke doors, they entered all the houses to search. They opened fire on a child and wounded him in his leg. They turned the area upside down," said unidentified resident from Ramadi.
The US forces did not give an immediate report on casualties or about the attack.
Ramadi, the capital of semi-lawless Anbar province, is a base of the Sunni Arab-led insurgency.
U.S. and Iraqi troops have launched a series of offensives in Anbar over the past few months aimed at securing western Iraq against the insurgents. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
