- Story Text: Two Iraqis were killed and 10 wounded in two separate bombings in Baghdad on Sunday (February 19), police sources said.
A car bomb near a suspension bridge that leads to the heavily guarded Green Zone, but has long been closed off, killed two people and wounded six, police said.
The blast shattered nearby shop fronts and set several cars ablaze.
"I was working inside my shop when the blast took place, I felt nothing but the force of the blast, which scattered shards of glasses near me," witness Ammar Riyadh said.
In a separate incident, four people were wounded when a bomber detonated his explosive belt at the Planning Ministry -- also near the Green Zone entrance -- police sources said.
"We were standing in front of the scene of the blast and we hear an explosion, we look and suddenly one person blows himself up between the workers," an unidentified witness said.
Insurgents have mounted a campaign of bombings and assassinations aimed at derailing the U.S.-backed political process since shortly after the invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
