In Lebanon, four people are reported to have been killed when a car bomb exploded near a checkpoint manned by Syrian peacekeeping forces on the southern edge of Beirut. The bomb badly damaged a timber warehouse, and reduced a dozen cars to burnt-out shells. An anonymous called to a Beirut news agency office claimed responsibility for the blast on behalf of the 'Liberation of Lebanon from Foreigners' organisation. Little is known about this group, except that its members have claimed responsibility for a number of bomb blasts recently on Syrian and Palestinian targets.
