- Story Text: Six people were killed and 42 others were injured on Thursday (13 November) when a bomb exploded outside a cafe in the centre of Jerusalem.
The bomb victims,Israelis, were killed when a five-kilo (11 pounds) charge left in a hand-trolley in Jaffa Road, the city's busiest thoroughfare, exploded.
The bomb, believed to have been planted by Arab guerrillas, went off amid shoppers and cinema-goers at the height of the rush hour. The blast left bodies and injured sprawled over the roadway.
Further deaths are feared as doctors tend ten severely injured in hospital. Some have lost limbs.
The attack came on the first anniversary of Palestine Liberation Organisation Chairman Yasser Arafat's controversial speech to the United Nations. It followed a week of demonstrations by Arab students in the occupied West Bank and took place on the eve of new Israeli withdrawals in Sinai.
The blast went off only yards (metres) from Zion Square where 15 people were killed last July by a booby-trapped refrigerator---Israel's bloodiest guerrilla bomb attack.
