  • Story Text: The Bangkok last week, a Thai police lieutenant was brought to trial and charged with the bombing of a Cathay Pacific airliner last year. Seventy-one passengers and ton crew workers died in the crash when the airliner went down during a flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong.

    Somachai Chaiyasutr appeared before a bench of three judges and five prosecutors on the first day of the trial. It took the Thai authorities more than a year to bring him to trial and the case is expected to continue for several weeks.
