- Story Text: A bomb blast in Srinagar, the summer capital of India's Jammu and Kashmir state, claimed the life of one man and seriously injured three other people on Monday (October 9).
The bomb, which was planted on a parked scooter, caused extensive damage to nearby houses, shops and vehicles.
Official sources say Moslem militants from the Tehreek-Ul-Mujahideen group were responsible for the blast.
Security forces were reported to have made two arrests in connection with the attack.
Unofficial sources said casualty numbers were higher, claiming that three Indian soldiers were killed and nine critically wounded.
A large crowd gathered at the site of the blast and residents said their belongings had been destroyed by the explosion.
On Tuesday (October 10), security forces clashed with militant members of Harkat-Ul-Ansar during search operations in Kashmir's Baramulla district. Five militants were killed. It was not clear if any of the soldiers had been injured in the conflict.
Officials say eight AK-47 rifles, a pistol and several rounds of ammunition were seized from the militants.
