- Story Text: Serbian authorities have claimed NATO bombs killed at
least eight civilians and injured fifteen on Tuesday night in
the centre of Pristina.
The centre of Pristina was rocketed half and hour
after midnight on Wednesday (April 7) morning.
The post office caught fire and rockets also hit a
settlement next to the post office building.
Several houses were destroyed and several others badly
damaged by fires which followed rocket explosions.
The Serb authorities say five members of a Turkish family
died in the ruins.
The fire was not put out until much later inthe morning.
Many surrounding buildings were damaged in downtown
Pristina as a result of the bombing.
The Pristina Serb Orthodox cemetery was also burnt. Two
rockets reportedly hit the cemetery. One of the rockets made a
big crater, uncovering the bones of Serbs buried long ago, and
destroying 100 tombstones, according to unconfirmed reports.
The fuel storage in Devet Jugovica village was also
bombed and the fire there was still burning late on Wednesday.
About ten houses near the storage depot were damaged but
people living nearby escaped injury.
NATO aeroplanes were repeatedly dropping cluster bombs
around Pristina on the villages of Lukare, Goles and on the
Pristina picnic area named Grmija.
