- Story Text: At least two United States soldiers have been
wounded when a aroadside bomb exploded in Baghdad.
A roadside bomb exploded in southern Baghdad on
Friday (November 14) morning, wounding two American
soldiers, a U.S. officer said.
"We had a couple of casualties and they have been
evacuated," Lieutenant Colonel Eric Nants, speaking at the scene of the blast in the Khadra district, told Reuters.
"I don't know the status of those casualties."
Witness Ahmed Fahdel said "A roadside bomb was set up
here, the American forces came to defuse it and that's when it went off on them, and three soldiers were injured."
Witnesses said the casualties had been evacuated by
helicopters. Television footage showed bloodstains on the pavement and windows shattered by the explosion.
Guerrillas have killed 156 U.S. soldiers since
President George W. Bush declared major combat in Iraq over
on May 1.
