- Story Text: Blast wounds civilian in Baghdad
A bomb apparently aimed at a U.S. patrol exploded in
central Baghdad on Saturday and an Iraqi civilian had been
wounded.
Small-arms fire crackled after the explosion, which
went off in a narrow street near the St Raphael hospital.
Witnesses said the bomb had been placed under a pile
of bricks across the street from a pharmacy.
The U.S. military said it was checking on the cause of
the explosion at about 8 a.m. (0400 GMT) in Baghdad's
morning rush hour.
