- Story Text: U.S. forces arrest a suspected car bomb maker in a
raid near Baquba.
The U.S. raid near Baquba on Friday night (February
6) came after a string of attacks against Iraqi security
forces operating in the town, the latest such incident on
January 29 when at least ten people were wounded.
On Friday night, at least two suspects were detained
by U.S. troops.
Baquba sits to the east of an area known as the Sunni
triangle, the hotbed of the 10-month insurgency against the
U.S.-led occupation.
As U.S. forces have ratcheted up strikes against
suspected insurgents in recent months, guerrillas have
increasingly targeted the Iraqi police, the Civil Defence
Force and other U.S.-backed security teams seen as easier
targets.
