- Story Text: At least nine people were wounded in a suicide attack in Pakistan's southwest city of Quetta on Tuesday (December 7).
Police officials said the target of the attack was the convoy of Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani, the chief minister of the southwest Baluchistan province.
Five policemen were among those wounded, while the suicide bomber was killed in the attack, said senior police official Tariq Manzoor.
Raisani escaped unhurt.
The attack comes a day after suspected Taliban suicide bombers killed at least 40 people at the office compound of a top government official in northwest Pakistan, demonstrating the ability of militants to strike high-profile targets in defiance of army offensives. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
