- Story Text: A second explosion in Ankara's industrial zone brought the death toll to ten on Thursday (February 3). An explosion killed 6 people.
The explosions were thought to have been caused by a build-up of gas tore through a factory making generators, injuring at least 30 on top of the dead in the Turkish capital.
Two floors of the plant collapsed in the original explosion, and some five people were believed to be trapped in the debris, news channels reported.
Local mayor Fethi Yasar told television stations natural gas or oxygen canisters were believed to have caused the blast.
Television images showed one side of the large four-storey building had been blown out, debris strewn on cars parked around the building, and emergency workers treating the injured and carrying them to ambulances.
Some 60 people worked at the plant, according to reports. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
