- Story Text: Israeli police investigate explosion near a Greek-Orthodox monastery in Jerusalem.
Israeli police reported on Sunday (March 6) that an explosive device went off near the Mar Elias monastery in Jerusalem, injuring one person.
According to a police report, a small pipe-device went off as a municipality sanitary worker was collecting it around 07:30 AM local time, injuring him moderately. The worker was evacuated to a local hospital. The police spokesperson added that the incident is still under investigation.
Mar Elias is a Greek-Orthodox monastery located south of Jerusalem, on a road leading to the West Bank cities of Bethlehem and Hebron. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
