- Story Text: NATO air strikes targeted a compound of the Popular Guards, a tribally-based military detachment in Tripoli late on Thursday (May 26), Libyan government officials said.
Local and foreign journalists were taken to the site near Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's Bab al-Aziziyah complex early on Friday (May 27) a short period after five blasts shook central Tripoli.
NATO warplanes have been carrying out air strikes on Libya for more than two months since the United Nations authorised "all necessary measures" to protect civilians from Gaddafi's forces in the country's civil war. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
