- Story Text: An explosion on Thursday (October 10) at a restaurant in a congested market in Lahore killed one person and injured several others, authorities said.
Police and rescue teams arriving at the blast site confirmed the explosion was caused by a bomb, but Lahore's Additional Inspector General (AIG) Operations of Police Rai Tahir said bomb disposal squads are still investigating.
"This was an explosive device. Whether it was a timed device or remote-controlled, the bomb disposal people are looking into that. As soon as they give us their findings, we will let you know," Tahir said.
Local media said many customers were having lunch at the eatery when the blast occurred.
The injured including one woman in a serious condition, were shifted to a local hospital, local media reported.
In July, five people were killed and 50 others, including women and children, were injured when an explosion occurred at an eatery situated in the same area. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
