- Story Text: Two bombs exploded inside building at a crowded intersection in central Baghdad on Thursday morning (May 25), wounding 13 people, police said.
The blast took place in al-Tahrir square, a major intersection lined with shops and market stalls.
"In this crowded street at about 0900 a.m. (0500GMT) bombs, which were planted inside building exploded. Thanks God it did hurt many people," said Mustafa Hussein, of the Iraqi traffic police.
In central Tikrit, bombs exploded inside a Sufi religious place on Wednesday (May 24), killing two of its bodyguards in Tikrit, police said.
Sectarian tensions are running high after the bombing of a Shi'ite shrine in Samarra in February, which unleashed a wave of reprisal attacks. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
