- Story Text: Kenyan deputy presidential candidate William Ruto cast his ballot at a polling station in his home town of Eldoret on Monday (March 4).
After voting, he told journalists the case against him at the International Criminal Court in The Hague would not interfere with his duties as a leader of the country.
"We are prepared to co-operate with the court as we discharge our responsibilities as leaders in this country and it doesn't take rocket science to be able to do that. I think we will comfortably be able to deal with our duties as leaders in this country and still be able to co-operate and work with the court - with the final intention, of course, of clearing our names."
Leading presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mte William Ruto have been indicted by the International Criminal Court for orchestrating the violence that erupted following the disputed result of the 2007 election. More than 1,200 people were killed. Both men deny the charges. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
