- Story Text: Ugandans have expressed surprise at newspaper and radio accounts of the recent fighting along the Ugandan-Tanzanian border -- for it was widely believed that relations between the two countries were improving. The latest skirmish began on Monday with reports of ground fighting between troops of both countries. This led to alleged mortar bombing of Ugandan frontier villages, and later the Ugandan army command claimed it had used aircraft to bomb and destroy the Tanzanian army camp from where the alleged offensives were organised. Twenty-two civilians were believed to have died in the fighting which seemed to have ended by Thursday (October 21).
