- Story Text: Evidence that Belgian police are taking a tough line
with troublemakers was seen on the streets of Brussels last
night when a plain clothes policeman held a gun to the head of
a fan he was arresting.
Scuffles broke out following Italy's 2-0 defeat of
Belgium when fans gathered for boisterous celebrations in the
centre of the city.
The man, who was near the Bourse, the city's stock
exchange, was approached by a policeman with his handgun
raised and three other officers then assisted with the arrest,
handcuffing the man and leading him away.
Angry Belgian fans attacked a car carrying Italian
supporters and later youths hurled chairs and bottles at each
other.
