- Story Text: Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen said on Wednesday evening (May 12) that he still could not confirm the identity of the sole survivor of the plane crash in Libya which killed 103 passenger and crew.
Verhagen also said he could not confirm the number of Dutch casualties. It is believed the majority of the victims are Dutch. Others passengers on the Afriquiyah Airways plane came from Libya, Germany, Zimbabwe and the Philippines, according to the airline's legal department.
"I would like to underline that I cannot confirm the number. 23 people have booked a flight from travel organisation Kars and 38 from Stip, but we don't know yet if all of them actually checked in, nor do we know if there were other Dutch onboard who didn't book through those travel organisations," Verhagen said.
The survivor is thought to be Dutch because he said "Holland, Holland" to a doctor treating him in a Tripoli hospital.
He said the government was flying a support team and an identification team of six forensic officers to Libya later on Wednesday evening. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
