- Story Text: Indonesian authorities on Wednesday (May 23) handed over remains of the Russian plane crash victims to their relatives.
The Russian Sukhoi jet crashed onto a mountain in West Java province, during a demonstration flight on May 9, killing all 45 people on board.
Relatives of the 35 Indonesians, 8 Russians, one American and one Frenchman collected the remains.
Farisya, whose father died in the crash, said he was thankful for the quick recovery process.
"We thank all of parties involved in the recovery operation, for its speedy process. We thank God that they have found our father's remains," he said.
A part of the plane's black box, the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), have been found and a small team of Russia and Indonesia continue to search for the remaining parts from the wreckage.
The CVR will be handed over Indonesia's National Committee of Safety Transportation who will work together with Russian experts to investigate the cause of the accident. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
