Story Text: BULGARIA IS AT PRESENT IN THE GRIP OF A "BUILDING BOOM", WITH BIG BLOCKS OF FLATS, AND EVEN PRIVATE HOUSES, BEING PUSHED UP AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE IN AN EFFORT TO MATCH PUBLIC DEMAND.
IN ITS CRASH PROGRAMME TO PUT UP MORE APARTMENT-BUILDINGS, BULGARIA IS EXPERIMENTING WITH PREFABRICATION, WITH HUGE CRANES LIFTING SECTIONS INTO PLACE.
LIVING SPACE IN BULGARIA IS SCARCE, AND MANY FAMILIES HAVE TO SHARE KITCHENS AND BATHROOM WITH NEIGHBOURS. BUT THOSE WITH MONEY SAVED CAN BUY A PRIVATE LOT AND BUILD A HOUSE OF THEIR OWN -- UNUSUAL FOR A COMMUNIST COUNTRY.
SUCH HOUSES, THOUGH SMALL, ARE CALLED "VILLAS". THE VILLA ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF SOFIA SEEN IN THIS ??? ???M ???E ???NGS TO A MEMBER OF THE BULGARIAN PRESIDIUM, WHO ALSO HAS AN APARTMENT IN THE CITY.
