- Story Text: Experts are still trying to find out why a Hungarian Ilyushin-18 airliner suddenly dived into the sea, while approaching Copenhagen's Kastrup International Airport last Saturday (28 August). Of the 24 passengers and 10 crew, only three persons survived.
Officials said there was no distress signal from the plane, prior to its sudden disappearance from radar screens, as it approached the airport in a high wind and pelting rain. A Danish accidents commission has joined a Hungarian commission in an inquiry into the accident.
On Wednesday (1 September), a floating salvage platform raised the airliner from the sea. The remains of the aircraft were taken to an airport hangar for further investigation.
