- Story Text: Legendary Hollywood star Mickey Rourke brings his latest movie " The Wrestler" to Moscow . Looking almost like his movie character Randy "The Ram" Rourke was warmly cheered by fans in Russian capital where he always had status of cult actor.
" It was a real honour to work with the director Darren Aronofsky, he's a very talented young director from New York. he made this movie, it was very hard to make this movie, he didn't have any money to make the movie because he chose to make the movie with me and he put his career on the line to do that and what can I say ? It was the hardest movie that I ever made but it's definitely the best movie I ever made. I hope you enjoy it", said Rourke standing on stage.
The story of Randy Ramzinski the star of wrestling of the 80's, who is trying to survive in modern times looks very familiar to Rourke's own life.
"I think the reason Darren Aronofsky wanted to hire me was he knew that my life was very much like Randy "The Ram" and it would be easy for me to tap into the - to revisit the dark, very painful side and get through the physical side, so - there were a lot of aspects of Randy that were very close to me, yes." Rourke said during a press-briefing.
During his stay in Moscow Rourke had a good time, comparing to other 80's idol Tom Cruise, who visited Moscow several weeks ago with his movie "Valkyrie".
Asked about his time in Moscow Rourke said: " You don't want to know ! I had a good time, the vodka, the women, the fucking bullshit - you know - I don't sit in my hotel room like Tom Cruise, believe me !".
Rourke who in the end of 80's was called in Russia a sex symbol after his role in
"Nine and a Half weeks" despite his today's stance is showing that he still got the clues for women's hearts, dialling the number of mysterious Russian girlfriend.
"I am calling my Russian girl. She's in Paris, she doesn't know she's my girl, though!", he said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
