Usually I don't really like these prices of honour. But this is different. In the film business the difficulty is to shot and produce good stuff over a long time period. And 50 years, that is not bad, I am a bit proud of that. So as a signal as recognition of that fact I like it, because they could also have shot me down saying 50 years, that is enough. But no, they honour me for that. I like it." "This is a great pleasure", Chabrol told Reuters at the red carpet. "In the film business the difficulty is to shot and produce good stuff over a long time period. And 50 years, that is not bad, I am a bit proud of that. They could also have shot me down saying 50 years, that is enough.
But no, they honour me for that."
78-year-old Chabrol is among the most famous French film-makers who started his career as one of the spearheads of the "Nouvelle Vague".
