- Story Text: Film star Arnold Schwarzenegger attended a U.S. Independence commemoration party on Monday (July 3) at Planet Hollywood in London, the restaurant he co-founded.
Among the other celebrities at the party were boxer Chris Eubank and business tycoon Richard Branson.
After signing autographs for fans, Schwarzenegger thanked them for helping to make the restaurant so successful.
The party also marked the second anniversary of the London restaurant. Since Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Sylvester Stallone and other Hollywood stars started the chain, it has spread to 26 countries.
The next restaurant will open in Tel Aviv, where hundreds of fans greeted Scwarzenegger at a ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday (July 6).
A large banner was unfurled by abseilers on a nearby building as Schwarzenegger greeted the crowd at the beachfront site.
The Tel Aviv restaurant will seat 400 people, with space for a further 200 at the bar when it opens later this year.
Breaking down a cardboard wall Schwarzenegger appeared before members of the press and spoke about his admiration for the peace process in Israel.
Referring to Hugh Grant's arrest for lewd behaviour in Los Angeles, Schwarzenegger said: "It's a tragedy for a great guy but I'm sure he'll work through this." Schwarzenegger also recieved the key to the city of Tel-Aviv from mayor Roni Millo.
As yet, there's no word on whether the restaurant, renowned for its cheeseburgers and other California cuisine, will serve a kosher menu. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
