- Story Text: Film and television star Cybill Shepherd has been concentrating on her singing career despite a nomination for a coveted Emmy Award.
Shepherd took to the stage at the Cinegrill room at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel for a series of performances.
While most fans know her acting talents, Shepherd started singing in her church choir in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee at age eight. She began studying music at age 16 and pursued her early musical career through several albums including "Mad About The Boy" with jazz musician Stan Getz.
Shepherd made her first New York City appearance in almost 15 years last August when she performed her Cabaret act to sold out crowds.
Her most recent album is "Somewhere Down the Road," featuring a title track duet with recording artist Peabo Bryson.
Shepherd is also starting work on the second season of her situation comedy series "Cybill." Besides starring in it, she also co-produces the series and it's loosely based on her real life.
She was recently nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the organization that sponsors the Emmy awards.
Shepherd is perhaps best known for her role as private investigator Maddie Hayes on the television comedy/drama "Moonlighting." She has also starred in films including "Taxi Driver," "The Last Picture Show," and "Chances Are." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
