- Story Text: Winner of Golden Globe for best actress, and Oscar nominee, Sharon Stone recently spoke to Reuters Television about her part in the film "Casino" and her continuing role as a 'sex goddess'.
Stone said that her part in the film demanded insistence and spontaneity as the character was fiercely and viciously out of control.
Stone denied her new film Casino was full of gratuitous violence - but admitted that she had been frightened by the convincing acting of co-star Joe Pesci.
Stone said that when she had first finished the film she had found it personally greatly fulfilling, and the reviews exciting and wonderful, but when nominated for the award she became scared and nervous and full of self-doubt. However she said she was lucky to have had the experience as it meant she could worry less about the Oscars, being grateful for having already won the Golden Globe.
The film "Basic Instinct" established Sharon Stone as a sex symbol, but with her new film she hopes to be recognised for her acting talents.
Asked about always being called a sex goddess, Stone laughed and said it was really not such a bad thing to be called. She joked that it would be great to still be called a sex goddess when she was fifty.
"Casino" was directed by Martin Scorsese and also stars Robert de Niro. The film opens in London on Friday (February 23). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
