- Story Text: Hollywood has witnessed more than the usual romantic turmoil this week.
First Michael Jackson, true to eccentric form, wed the woman carrying his child. Then in a clandestine ceremony, actor Daniel Day Lewis wed his sweetheart. But after marriage comes divorce -- one of the West Coast's hottest couples, Pamela Anderson Lee and husband Tommy Lee announced they will split.
TV series Baywatch's most popular star has filed for divorce from her rock drummer husband Lee after only 21 months of marriage.
Pamela's petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their break-up.
The pair, who have a five-month-old son, Brandon Lee, held a flamboyant marriage on a beach in Mexico on February 19, 1995. The drummer divorced 'Melrose Place' actress Heather Locklear to marry Pamela.
Lee, who plays with the group Motley Crue, has so far remained silent after divorce papers recorded that they separated last Friday.
On a happier note, news broke on Monday (November 18) that actor Daniel Day-Lewis had married actress Rebecca Miller, daughter of playwright Arthur Miller.
The couple wed in a private ceremony last Wednesday in Vermond, Day-Lewis' publicist revealed. The actor has been making the film version of Miller's 1953 play "The Crucible" about witch trials in Massachusetts.
Son of the late British poet and writer Cecil Day-Lewis, the 39-year-old actor won an Oscar for his role in "My Left Foot". His 32-year-old bride is an actress and director.
Day-Lewis courted controversy last year when he fathered a son by French actress Isabelle Adjani. The baby was born in Spring 1995.
Further south, rumours that unpredictable pop superstar Michael Jackson had wed turned out to be true.
Jackson and Debbie Rowe, the nurse who is expecting his baby, surprised the world on Thursday (November 14) with a wedding party in their luxury hotel suite.
Rowe has not been at Jackson's side during his public appearances in Australia.
The wedding took place only ten days after Jackson announced that Rowe, who nursed the star while he was being treated for a rare skin disorder, was due to give birth to his child early next year.
Jackson denied news reports that Rowe had been artificially inseminated and that he paid 500,000 United States (U.S.) dollars to carry his child.
Rowe has reportedly been divorced for eight years from her first husband and lives in an apartment in the Los Angeles suburb of Van Nuys. She is said to have met Jackson 15 years ago while working for a doctor who was treating the entertainer for the skin condition vitiligo.
Sceptics are already wondering whether Jackson's second marriage will go the way of his first short-lived partnership with Lisa-Marie Presley -- the couple split recently, not long after protesting that theirs was a lasting union. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
