  • Story Text: Their music is everywhere, their faces are on all the magazines and now the Spice Girls have joined the likes of Michael Jackson, Tina Turner and Rod Stewart by starring in a commercial for Pepsi.

    Called "Generationext", the commercial was filmed in London and Los Angeles and will hit television and cinema screens throughout the world this summer.

    Pepsi Music, as the partnership between Pepsi and the Spice Girls is called, was announced on Sunday (May 4).

    The British sensation, who perform an exclusive song in the commercial, spoke to Reuters Television about their latest venture to conquer the world.

    Spice Girl Geri Halliwell (better known as Ginger Spice) said it was the first time an advert had been released at the same time throughout the world.

    She said Pepsi projected the same image of "girl power", and the new generation -- just like The Spice Girls.

    Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) said the group had been lucky enough to work on the song as well as the advertisement.

    Scary Spice (Melanie Brown) said the band had been describing themselves when they wrote the lyrics to "Generationext".

    The girls say the highlight of the new partnership will be their first live concert which will be held in Turkey this summer.

    A special edition free Spice Girls CD single will be also be available -- exclusively through Pepsi.
