- Story Text: Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor has made an impassioned plea for help for the children of Chechnya at a charity ball in Turkey.
Liz Taylor appeared at the function in Istanbul on Monday (July 28) to raise awareness of the child victims of war-ravaged Chechnya.
The event was organised by international businessman Adnan Kashogi and Turkish businessman Sahpari Kasikci together with the International Foundation of Help For Children.
Taylor told guests, who had paid to have dinner with the Hollywood star, the purpose of the night was to shine a bright light on the plight of Chechnya's youngsters and the many orphans left to fend for themselves.
Taylor didn't spare her audience any of the horrors of the war - telling them if they went to Chechnya now they would see children living in sewers and pipes, and children without arms and legs scampering across a ravaged countryside - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
