- Story Text: Fans of eighties band "The Power Station" fronted by Robert Palmer, have waited almost a decade for the group to release its second album.
The band members include Andy Taylor, formerly with the much-loved eighties group Duran Duran and Tony Thompson.
Due in music stores this week, the album "Living In Fear" was almost shelved when the band's producer Bernard Edward died suddenly when he was in Japan performing with Nile Rodgers.
After his death, the band took the decision to go ahead and finish the album since Edward's contribution had been so great.
They decided the album should be released at all costs.
Palmer and the band said the album was definitely worth the ten-year wait.
Palmer admits, however, that it was sometimes difficult to focus the group "It's more trying to focus the attitude of the group, the album is called "Living In Fear" and when we were writing it we were in Los Angeles, there were mud slides, riots, fires," he said.
The band attributes the album's diverse range of tracks to the fact that during Power Station's ten year lay-off, each band member was involved in a number of projects as performers, songwriters and producers.
Andy Taylor acknowledges how determined the group were to produce a good album.
"It was quite a team and you know when we did the album we said well, look if we're gonna do an album let's not mess about let's nail it now we've got more experience," he said.
"Living In Fear" is an international record. It was recorded in Los Angeles, New York, Milan and Capri and features guest French keyboard players Wally Badarou and Philippe Saisse as well as the Tower of Power horn section.
Palmer is still wearing his suits from the eighties because he says that's how he feels most comfortable. However 'the girls' featured in their hugely successful eighties song "Addicted to Love" are nowhere to be seen ten years on. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
