- Story Text: Preparations for the 1998 MTV Europe Music Awards are well underway in Milan, with the cream of the music world gearing up for the big event on Thursday (November 12) evening.
With less than 48 hours to go, the Filaforum in Milan is beginning to look like the venue for the biggest music event of the year in Europe.
Technicians have been wrestling with hundreds of lights, thousands of metres of cable and sixteen cameras to bring the show to an in-house audience of 7,000 - with millions more tuning in at home.
Many of the nominees, such as All Saints and Madonna will be performing live, including Pras, who have been nominated for Best Rap.Pras shot to fame with the Fugees in 1996, but like the other members of the band (Laura Hill and Wyclef Jean) he's also forged a successful solo career.
Viewers can expect a medley of his two solo singles, "Blue Anger" and "Ghetto Superstar" with special guests joining Pras on stage.
The Manic Street Preachers will be performing a track from their new album, a long-awaited follow up to the multi-award-winning "Everything Must Go" which could see them scoop their fair share of nominations next year.
Host, Jenny McCarthy took time out from rehearsals to go shopping for the big night.She was in fine form as she visited the Versace shop, sampling some of the trendiest clothes in one of the world's most fashion conscious cities. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
