- Story Text: While Canada may not be known for it's pop/R&B music scene, singer-songwriter Deborah Cox is experiencing international success with her recent single "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here".
Cox is poised to follow in the footsteps of Canada's other favourite musical daughters, Celine Dion and AlanisMorrisette.
Versatile pop/R&B songstress Deborah Cox is paving the way for other Canadian females in the genre with the success of her second Arista recording "One Wish".
The first single, "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here" is number two on the R&B charts and the gospel-tinged track is attracting audiences to Cox's powerhouse vocals as well as her songwriting abilities.
Her first self-titled album went gold and spawned a string of chart-topping tracks most notably "Sentimental", "Who Do You Love", and "Things Just Ain't The Same" from the movie soundtrack "Money Talks".She also won back to back Juno Awards in 1996 and 1997 as Canada's Best Female R&B Artist Upon returning from an extensive promotional tour throughout North America, Australia, England and Holland, fans eagerly anticipated her follow-up album, which features some of Cox's own material as well as contributions from Diane Warren, Montell Jordan, Gordon Chambers, and David Foster.
Travel schedule and appearance schedule notwithstanding, Ms.Cox, a student of classical music and jazz, still finds time to write poetry as well as her own compositions and vocal arrangements. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
