- Story Text: The magic of the Harry Potter film phenomenon continues as the film's stars Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron), stepped out in style via the Weasleys' magical Ford Anglia car at Leavesden Studios in the English countryside for the worldwide launch of the second installment, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", on DVD and video.
The world's most famous schoolboy wizard and his friends are back to weave their magic and bewitch children and adults alike with the video and DVD launch of "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets".
Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron) and Emma Watson (Hermione) were joined by fellow cast members -- including Robbie Coltrane, Miriam Margolyes -- mixed with producer David Heyman and director Chris Columbus at the event, attended by about 450 guests, a selected audience of children, their parents and press from around the world.
Amid animated mandrake plants, mist-wreathed giant spiders and a row of silent basilisk heads, conjurers, magicians and illusionists entertained the film's stars and selected guests at the Leavesden Film Studios outside North London.
'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' has already grossed a phenomenal $600 million (USD) international in box office receipts making it the third-highest internationally grossing film of all time, behind its predecessor 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' and the romantic blockbuster "Titanic".
The DVD promises to offer the public the ultimate Harry Potter experience with special features such as crystal-clear self guided tours and One Voice DVD technology that allows the user to magically control their computers with their voices.
There is an additional 19 extended scenes from the film as well as offering the user the ability to build their own scene from the film.
The two-disc DVD and VHS are scheduled for release Friday around the world -- except in Japan (April 25) and France (June 5). Warner Bros. is prepared for big business on the title; its predecessor, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," has sold almost 50 million units in 200 countries worldwide. The 'Harry Potter' book series has sold a staggering 195 million copies worldwide making the characters' creator JK Rowling into a household name.
