- Story Text: Super-producer George Duke has released his first instrumental album in over twenty years."After Hours" finds the veteran pianist/composer making music from the heart that is meant to be "put on and turned down".
For the first time in over twenty years George Duke, veteran arranger, keyboardist, and award-winning producer, has recorded a completely instrumental album, his fifth for Warner Brothers Records.
A definite departure from recent albums like the classical/jazz triumph "Muir Woods", "After Hours" chronicles an evening in the life of two lovers with the track titles reflecting the evening's progression.Cuts like "After Dinner Drink", "The Touch", and "Anticipation" are pieces that the album's creator says are "meant to be put on and turned down."
Duke has worked with many artists over the years, taking a bit from each experience and blending it into his own type of jazz/funk/classical fusion. Each project reflects a musical progression owing to common ground shared and explored with such musical lumninaries as Al Jarreau, Jean-Luc Ponty, Frank Zappa, Miles Davis, Julian "Cannonball" Adderly, Nancy Wilson, and Dizzy Gillespie.
The Grammy-winning producer is currently in the studio working on projects from Anita Baker, gospel group Take 6, and vocalist Dianne Reeves. He plans to continue to tour with "After Hours", playing intimate venues in and around the New York City area. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
